Kostume Kult presents Black & Light Ball 2014 : Haute Kulture May 10, 2014

As we roll into what we burners call Pre-Burn season (nobody calls it that) its time once again for our classiest of affairs known as the Black & Light Ball! A very cool, very UV reactive event featuring all the high class, upper crust costumers of the NYC area. All are invited, all are welcome, all are black lit for an evening of fun, art, dancing and glowing good times.

Check out the event page for more details and to buy TICKETS. Getting them early not only gets your a better price (CHEAPER) but it also ensures you will not be left outside the doors while the party glows on into the night at our venue in Manhattan

Once again we have searched near and far to bring the best DJs possible for this special event.
DJs in two rooms include:
Matt Hardinge (Motek)
Soul Mob (Ospina Digital/Slur/Worship/Soul Mob Productions)
WhiteOwlJaguar (Disco Fist/Talon & Claw)
Rhenalt (Rebel Eye/Nervous)

Tektite (Vitamin B/Blackbird Squadron)
Beatkitty (Kostume Kult/Kismet)
Havok (Osiris/Snap Music)
Jeffrey Dommer (NYC Tribe/Fire Triangle)

Now you are excited! What do I wear??!? Don't panic. I'm hear to help you through this. There is a world of UV reactive materials to make a costume with and above all we just want you to come enjoy the fun.

Here are some things I have found glow very well in black light and can be used for costumes:
Fluorescent yarn (Red Heart brand) The pink glows like crazy.
Paper!
Neon Poster board (Dollar store- CHA-CHING!)
Neon craft paint (mini bottles at Michael's are about $1 each. Use multiple coats for better results)
Neon zip ties (Home Depot)

So go on an inspirational shopping trip and don't get over whelmed. Start with a hat or a blazer from the thrift store. Get crafty. Use your glue gun! Here are some photos from past Black & Light Balls. Hehe Balls.
Check out my Pinterest board for costume & makeup inspiration.

Kostume Kult presents Horned Ball 2012 ARKK

Spring is upon us and as the ground thaws (not that it was ever really frozen this winter) the animals will awake from hibernation and begin the spring ritual of finding a suitable mate. But Wait! What is this? A foreboding storm approaches and threatens all living kind!! Their only hope is a man (some say he's crazy) and his epic ark. Built to last 40 days and nights of deluge this vessel will bring the animals 2 by 2 safely to dry land. So put on your fuzzy ears, tails, horns, and scales and party with Noah on the Party Arkk!!

ABOUT
The 8th annual Horned Ball is Kostume Kult's longest running Burning Man camp fundraiser. Every year HB is a riot of Horns and other Costumery as the animals stir and break free of winter sluggishness. Play along with this year's theme or do something completely different. Individuality, absurdity and your unique style is celebrated in an environment where all who make an effort are welcome. With past themes being Paleolithikk (2010) and Road to Valhalla (2011) note that, every year, there is a different Horned spin and patron god. Many play along, others chart their own path. All are welcome.

CALL TO ARTISTS AND VOLUNTEERS
Warsaw is a big venue with three rooms, a main stage, balcony and many corners to decorate. If you are interested to supply art, an activity or to otherwise volunteer, click HERE.

Upcoming Event - 7th Annual Horned Ball April 8, 2011 hosted by Kostume Kult

Kostume Kult presents:

Horned Ball 7: Road to Valhalla

Friday, April 8th... (8pm to Late)
Santos Party House
96 Lafayette Street
New York, NY

Gather your forces, don your armor, fur and horns and prepare for battle on the road to the Hallowed Halls of Valhalla.

Much more info coming soon on this annual Spring Rebirth as the drums begin to beat and we begin the march towards a sacred, distant land with our first Burning Man project fundraiser.

For those who are unaware, Horned Ball is Kostume Kult's longest running annual event where all are encouraged to wear horns regardless of the sub-theme. This year we pay homage to the Norse mythos- its gods, warriors and magickal creatures but also welcome overt acts of ridiculousness as a constant of this event is absurdity...

Featuring late night dancing and staged performances from 8-12 at the "Showtime at the Valhalla" Gong-Show presentation on the main stage, we are seeking leaders, doers, artists, and performers who will help us set the pyre alight and kick off this season in powerful style.
