Mask & Masquerades

There is something to be said about the artistry of a real mask. They are mysterious and ornate yet playful and childish. Forget your rubberized ill-fitting Richard Nixon mask, I'm taking about masquerade ball masks and carnivale masks.

I found an etsy seller with particularly impressive creations today while tooling around the treasury section of the site. I love the treasuries. They are like visual crack for us artsy types. The shop is called The Art of the Mask and it is owned by Cyndy Salisbury from Bainbridge Island, WA. If you can afford one of her amazing pieces it is sure to be a show stopper next Halloween. But why wait until then, Mardi Gras is just around the corner!!
